Responsibilities
You will be responsible for technical/administrative work with an emphasis on processing development proposals, and preparing related reports and recommendations. You will have considerable contact with developers, the public and other agencies in providing information and advice. Other areas of responsibility include conducting analyses of commercial, industrial and residential development proposals; representing the Planning Department on various committees; drafting policy recommendations; assisting with presentations and displays; and supervising the work of others, as required. Requirements You will have a thorough knowledge of the practices, rules, regulations, by-laws, objectives and legislation applicable to a municipal planning operation, and, the ability to exercise independent judgment and action. The successful applicant will have completed courses in planning, civil engineering, architectural or related disciplines resulting in a diploma or degree. Sound related municipal planning experience is required, as well as a thorough knowledge of the practices, principles and techniques of zoning and land use controls. Experience working in a supervisory or project lead capacity is preferred.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position. Compensation & Benefits

Salary:
$37.97 to $44.83 per hour (January 2019 rates)Pay Grade 25
Hours of Work:
