Working in collaboration with consulting teams, stakeholder groups and the public, you will be the approving authority for the design and construction implementation of public open space. You will be responsible for project development, budgeting, financial management, and ultimate project management of the park delivery. You will directly influence the design and function of open space in neighbourhoods, community and regional parks, streetscapes and the preservation and enhancement of environmental reserves. Primary duties include: Develop and manage all stages of the design process for successful construction and restoration; identify key stakeholders and project risks. Ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal regulations and adherence to the legislative, technical and professional standards upheld by the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (AALA). Compose and evaluate Request for Proposals (RFP) for consultant services, recommend tender awards on behalf of The City, and direct capital construction processes. Manage consulting teams and the process to deliver timely park developments for complex or politically sensitive sites on larger projects. Participate in site analysis, the development of concept plans, construction detail drawings and the assembly of tender packages as well as follow through with construction administration on smaller projects. Prepare and deliver expert and knowledgeable presentations and communications. Ensure environmental compliance with all legislative and technical requirements through permitting and approvals process. Draft reports for project approvals and reports to Council. Respond to inquiries and engagements with the public and senior City officials. Evaluate and approve costs estimates for all aspects of consulting and construction project budgeting. Represent Calgary Parks on a number of corporate committees, citizen advisory boards, and special interest groups. Qualifications A degree in Landscape Architecture, a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field of Landscape Architecture and eligibility for membership with the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (AALA). Knowledge of procurement processes and Calgary Parks’ standard specifications is considered to be an asset. Well-developed communication skills with the ability to participate in technical discussions with Engineers, Architects, City Planners and Councillors, as well as the general public.
