Our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is looking for passionate and enthusiastic individuals to lead fitness classes. The Contract Fitness Instructor will lead exercise programs for adults and seniors, focusing on functional exercises, balance, agility, cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. The incumbent will also perform related work as required.
Applicants must hold a current BCRPA certificate or related equivalent with one or more fitness-related modules, i.e. Group Fitness, Older Adult, Osteofit, Weight Training, Pilates and Yoga Fitness and have experience planning and leading group fitness and/or cycle classes. Other related duties will include communicating with program coordinators as well as program/equipment set up and tear down. Other qualifications include First Aid certification or CPR Level C, Group Fitness certification, and strong customer service and communication skills. This work is suitable to individuals seeking occasional and/or part-time seasonal work, preference will be given to candidates with prior experience exceeding six months.
