·Liaise, coordinate and provide excellent communication with community gardeners, neighbourhood groups and City of London staff.
·Work with Parks Operations staff and landscape contractors to ensure gardens are well maintained and operational during the gardening season.·Administer the community gardens registration process and keep accurate gardener records ·Coordinate Community Gardens budgets and work with staff and contractors to complete projects.·Staff outdoor movie nights, which includes technology set up and take down, safety and equipment checks, photography, crowd engagement and promotion of City of London neighbourhood programs.·Assist with promotion of City of London neighbourhood programs and initiatives at events.·Ensure all City of London policies and practices are followed. ·Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications Proficient knowledge and experience in the following areas: • Excellent interpersonal skills.• Customer service experience.• Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills. • Knowledge of and/or strong interest in vegetable gardening and the environment.• Ability to deal with conflict and conflict resolution. • Knowledge of community organizations and resources an asset.• Community engagement experience an asset. • Ability to speak other languages an asset. Specialized Training and Licenses • Bachelor degree/college diploma in landscaping, agriculture, environmental science, recreation & leisure, or a similar program or in progress. • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.• Standard First Aid/CPR and Current Police Reference Check required. Please note: Must provide own transportation, with mileage reimbursement provided. Other Information Casual (year round) Commitment: Full-time May through September (35 hours per week) with the possibility of extension to part-time hours from October to April.Hours: Daytime hours Monday – Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings.
