Job Description

Project Engineer - Bus Rapid Transit 

Under the direction of the Project Manager, Bus Rapid Transit, duties include providing project management support by guiding, directing and coordinating Bus Rapid Transit road projects and engineering submissions performed by consulting engineers. 

The incumbent will: 

  • Provide technical and procedural guidance on planning, designing and scheduling of Bus Rapid Transit road projects
  • Conduct critical and constructive technical reviews of municipal road design and engineering submissions
  • Coordinate comments on tender packages with Regional staff, area municipalities, consultants, agencies and utility companies
  • Attend and participate in meetings with internal staff, external agencies, consultants and the public
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve concerns from the public and stakeholders
  • Obtain Permissions to Enter for construction from property owners
  • Participate in preparing and reviewing project costing and budgets
  • Complete limited CAD work by conducting various drawings and designs during design and construction
  • Conduct site inspections and participate in site meetings during design and construction

The successful applicant will possess:

  • A Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licence as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Work experience related to the functional planning and detailed design for municipal roads
  • Knowledge of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, and familiarity with various other municipal, provincial and federal acts, policies and guidelines as they pertain to road related projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving skills, verbal and written communication, public relations, negotiation and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD (Civil 3D an asset)
  • The ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence

 Management & Exempt Salary Grade 5 

  • Salary: $77,368 to $96,710 per annum
