Senior Systems Analyst (Temporary) - Job ID 9794

 Reporting to the Manager, FIMS Applications (Projects), the incumbent will:

  • Lead or perform application development adhering to best practices and methodologies
  • Performs a variety of complex programming tasks, such as analyzing, designing, documenting, and coding program logic
  • Provide application support and enhancements to existing applications
  • Define system requirements, priorities, and viable alternatives
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of staff to locate, assess, install, test, and maintain computer software systems; coordinate conversions and upgrades to vendor systems and verify database and data integrity
  • Provide a lead technical role during upgrades, modifications and defect/fixes on systems and applications, including overseeing technical staff and ensuring projects are implemented within strict timelines and budget
  • Liaise with management staff from business areas impacted by technology to address and resolve system issues, review and assess alternative technical solutions and implement the resolutions
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations to FIMS management team in the assessing software applications or tools in support of systems implementations and operations
  • Assist in developing technical standards, operational policies and procedures that impact the use of application systems
  • Support the development of new systems by choosing and configuring hardware and software
  • Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects
  • Review development work and provide a lead role in quality assurance
  • Provide technical opinion on proposed change requests and provide recommendations of alternative technical or functional application solutions
  • Assist FIMS management team with the planning of projects/tasks
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology and industry trends

The successful applicant will possess:

  • A four year degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset
  • Technical development experience with enterprise applications
  • Working knowledge of Oracle CC&B including software development experience with batch jobs and BI Publisher an asset
  • Experience and knowledge with Oracle 12c, SQL, JavaScript, SOA Architecture Concepts, middleware, business intelligence reporting software, and XML
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows), and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong knowledge of the system development lifecycle
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • A valid driver's licence and the use of a vehicle

 This position will be paid at the following hourly rates:

 - Start: $45.45 - Six Month: $47.98 - Job: $50.50
