Job Description

Technology Specialist - CS-IT

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the incumbent will:

  • Prepare and present technical design, implement, configure and maintain corporate infrastructure
  • Monitor performance to detect, analyze and resolve infrastructure problems and/or components
  • Manage all aspects of MS Active Directory to ensure the secure, consistent and reliable delivery of directory services throughout the Corporation
  • Analyze, plan, implement, and maintain Microsoft servers, services and storage in a physical and virtual environment
  • Maintain user accounts, manage network resources, email services and operating functions
  • Monitor and protect all structured and unstructured data
  • Install software and hardware components, perform configuration changes as required to enhance network services and increase capacity
  • Provide technical recommendations and solutions to address business needs
  • Provide timely and effective customer service, communicating status updates of problems to users, ensuring resolution is to the user's satisfaction
  • Assume a leadership role on various corporate projects, presenting status updates and communicating to project stakeholders in a timely manner

The successful applicant will possess:

  • A 3 year diploma in a technology related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Several years experience maintaining MS Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7 and XP operating systems
  • Experience working with enterprise email (MS Exchange 2010) and enterprise backup and storage systems, including SAN and NAS
  • Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining Active Directory, DNS, Windows Security-Policies and Patching, Windows Scripts, Physical and Virtual Servers (VMware), MS Terminal Services, IIS and PKI certificates
  • A comprehensive understanding of MS Outlook 2010, MS Office 2010, MS Visio and MS Project
  • Demonstrated ability to assess software application performance, using various network and service management tools
  • Strong customer focus, professionalism, effective communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Proven project management and organizational skills
  • An ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management is an asset
  • A valid Ontario driver's licence and use of a vehicle

CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 7

This position is with Salary Grade 7 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:

- Start: $39.65 - Six Month: $41.85 - Job: $44.05
