The Township of South Frontenac is located in Eastern Ontario in Frontenac County, bounded by the City of Kingston and the Townships of Stone Mills, Tay Valley, Central Frontenac and Rideau Lakes.

The Township has a population of 18,000+ and is located 20 minutes north of Highway 401. It has the highest population of the four townships in Frontenac, and is home to farmers, artisans, self-employed tradespeople, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

South Frontenac is an amalgamation of communities (1998) whose common goals have brought them together for mutual co-operation. The Official Plan provides a framework for directing South Frontenac’s growth in a manner which will preserve the Township’s environmental integrity while enhancing both its rural character and its long-term economic viability.

Are you looking to join a growing rural municipality that is facing development pressure? Do you want to apply your planning skills in a community surrounded by many lakes and quaint hamlets? The Township of South Frontenac is looking for a Planner like you. As part of the development services team, the Planner receives and processes all planning related applications and inquiries and provides; professional planning opinions, advice, direction and information to staff, Council and members of the public. The Planner has an in-depth knowledge of and applies; the Planning Act, the Township Official Plan and Zoning By-law and relevant township policies. The incumbent attends and coordinates all Committee of Adjustment/Land Division Committee meetings and attend Council as necessary. As part of the role the Planner supervises the Planning Assistant and any additional planning staff as required in the future.  We are seeking someone who brings five (5) years of planning experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Candidates must have membership in or eligibility for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners with designation as a Registered Professional Planner. A degree or diploma preferably in geography, a planning discipline or other related field is preferred. Knowledge of the Municipal Act, Planning Act and other relevant municipal legislation is also required.    A recent and detailed job description is available from the consultant.
