Reporting to the Manager, FIMS Projects, the incumbent will:
Research, plan, design and maintain efficient databases, including Oracle and Microsoft databases and related systems that meet user requirements, including designing and developing customized systems, installing database software and organizing multiple databases across multiple servers
Research, plan, design and maintain all data management, including Enterprise Architecture planning, design, and implementation
Research, plan, develop, implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure minimal loss of data and system downtime
Design and administer system security and user accessibility to various databases and applications
Develop, evaluate and maintain system performance and capacity to meet or exceed requirements for production and development database systems
Upgrade, maintain and patch databases, software and operating systems, ensuring they are current and tested in a physical and virtualized environment
Analyze and correct system problems to provide uninterrupted use of all production systems
Maintain detailed and accurate technical documentation, including, architecture diagrams, configuration, versions, patches and customizations
Present enterprise architecture and future state recommendations to FIMS Management to assist in the planning and prioritizing of upcoming projects and tasks
Liaise with vendors to ensure processes meet current and future capacity requirements, as well as ensure the currency of existing infrastructure and database systems
The successful applicant will possess:
A university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
Oracle and Microsoft certifications such as Oracle Database Architecture and Administration (MCDBA) or similar is an asset
Several years senior experience writing or modifying programs, establishing backup and recovery procedures, system analysis and design
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft, Oracle, Unix, Linux, Windows, VMWare; other operating systems would be considered an asset
Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting experience
Excellent analytical and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the capability to use tact and diplomacy
The ability to work independently and within a team environment
Salary: - Start: $52.19 - Six Month: $55.09 - Job: $57.99
